add new field for games

- Will be great to have a "First Release" field for all games. Release field is not really revelant because is the Release of the last patch. (And possibility to use only a year, because for all game it's not easy to find exact date)

- A field for filter "Indie" game would be nice too, to see only big commercial games. Because if I want to play a racing game, I want to see Game like GRID Autosport not TuxRacer :)

- Auto import for all Steam Games will be nice. Steam got a API, and import all database will be easier than type all games. http://store.steampowered.com/search/?&category1=998&os=linux. And field for Steam like "Controller support" can be useful.

Because yet the search got lots of options, but i don't think it's really usable.

And posibility to edit Game engine.

Like http://www.lgdb.org/engine/residualvm who miss this 2 games http://www.lgdb.org/game/escape-from-monkey-island and http://www.lgdb.org/game/myst-iii-exile

or http://www.lgdb.org/engine/adventure-game-studio who isn't a game replacement

Why would a first release field be relevant? We picked last release because it gives an idea how "active" or "current" the game is.

This is highly subjective and we need very robust criteria for that, i can definitely see the potential.

We work with the api to get the prices, i can see this to be very useful also for the other sites we support. But someone has to do it and my holidays are over :(

Well, the main reason is the stupid internal search mechanism, we tried to work around that the best we could but it is definitely a weak point and much criticized in the past. but i just checked and there might be an easy to implement options around.

ok, thats a first, but of course a valid point especially after this section got so much love from our tireless admin ssf.

>>- Will be great to have a "First Release" field for all games.

I personally don't use the release field anymore since the most games stay up-to-date due package managers, integrated updaters or clients like steam

>>- A field for filter "Indie" game would be nice too, to see only big commercial...

also you can hide opensource games I don't think we need more categories

>>Auto import for all Steam Games will be nice. Steam got a API, and import all database will be easier than type all games.

not sure, for me steam games are still not linux games since you always need the client.

secondly, If you use steam you need no gamedb since you are browsing the steam shop.

>>And posibility to edit Game engine.

Of course.

there are many AGS games that are windows only so i would consider it a replacement engine

cheers, (=

It is now possible for everyone to edit engine pages. Please test.

Just tested adding Urban Terror to the id Tech 3 engine. Sweet!
