Zod Engine

Zod Engine

Zod Engine is a remake of the 1996 classic game by Bitmap Brothers called Z. Z is a capture the flag style RTS. In this game you command robots and vehicles with the purpose of destroying the enemy's fort.

The Zod Engine is a multiplayer oriented game where as Z is a single player oriented game. Here you will be able to for the first time do things such as play games against multiple bot players, or play the original levels with friends helping you on the same team. The Zod Engine is cross platform for Linux and Windows and can support any resolution. There are no limits on map size or players per game. The Zod Engine is also in a state of continual development so new features may come at any time with idea's from the players.

Solve problems in Zod Engine for Linux version

I was looking for a solution for the native version of Linux. Although the page is in German. The solution is simple.
With this solution you can run zod, zod map editor and zod launcher.
Do not forget to install the dependencies and change the instruction line that they comment
in the solution.

Old release

One has to recompile it againt to be able to run it o new distro , unfortunately only the multiplayer can be recompiled on a new distro , so no singleplayer for us.

Zod engine

Seems this is completely Windows game. Had anybody succeed to rum it on Linux without Wine?

There is a formal linux release now.

Before you had to get the assets from the windows installer then compile the source yourself.

It can also be compiled for macs, the issue is the time needed to maintain all the different installers for different platforms.
