Cave Story is the critically acclaimed opus by indie game developer Pixel, originally created as a tribute to games like Metroid and Castlevania. Cave Story is a 2D platformer in the "metroidvania" tradition, with a classic, world-saving hero and an emphasis on exploration and discovery.
Cave Story+ takes the addictive classic 2D gameplay formula and brings it up to speed with all-new audio-visuals and 10 highly potent and destructive weapons, each with three levels of power!
Along with the higher-definition graphics and music, Cave Story+ includes five new and fresh play modes. New players are welcomed to try Easy Mode while Cave Story veterans can tackle Hard Mode — if they can handle it. Players can also challenge every boss in Boss Rush Mode or try their skill at Sanctuary Time Attack and play story mode as the lovable Curly!
And its okay. It doesn't have too many extras, but it has enough to feel that my money was well spend. Especially love the remastered music in ogg format.
OKay, okay, I have no other choice but to buy it... :)
Thanks for the link, added it.
By the way, I'm currently stuck on Ballos :)
Upd: Hooray! Finished it!
Feeling odds. although its great. Let me guess. Whats wrong about the game? traveling too slow or Less content to explore in loss area.
BTW: new OpenSource engine for this game released.
NXEngine

Awesome game, though very difficult. It has great storyline with three endings (got the "normal" one, but without Curly; not sure if I'll be able to get "extended" one, may be too difficult for me), various weapons (you can't collect all of them at a time - at some points you should decide which weapon to choose), secrets, lots of different enemies, etc. If you like old-school platform games this is definitely one to try.
Great old-school platformer.
Graphics are retro and cool.
It is not just a simple platformer as it has strong story and few extra rpg things (weapons, items).
Recommended for everyone!
Download link is a archive, I have unpacked it and it was working right away (xubuntu 8.04)
