Promising game, but Story Mode disappoints

It's an old classic among FOSS games, SuperTuxKart. It continues to become better and better and I'm excited to see what will happen in future.

It's fun and challenging to drive against the computer karts which can be very brutal on higher difficulty levels. Difficulty as such seems to be balanced well.
In general, you eventually run out of content in this game, there are simply not that many tracks to drive on. That's also why I have (mostly) stopped playing this game for now.

What I personally find very disappointing is Story Mode, it's just way too short. It could have been so much more; it's a wasted opportunity. And some challenges are outright weird, like there's one challenge in Story Mode in which you race with opponent karts, but it's actually a time-trial and your rank doesn't matter for your trophy! In another challenge, you win at the highest difficulty if you finish second ... That's just wrong. xD

One long awaited feature is still not implemented, it's networked multiplayer. But at least you can play locally against a friend (haven't tried it out yet).

To be fair, this is still version 0.9 (i.e. beta / unfinished), so don't consider this my final word on this. Let's see what version 1.0 will bring.

Best free and open-source racing game available for Linux

This truly is my favourite free and open-source racing game, although room for improvement always exists. Its graphics have improved, although 0 A.D. and RuneScape's NXT Client still have better graphics than it. Adding extra levels to the Story Mode would definitely keep me interested in it for longer, as I find it so boring after I have finished the Story Mode.

Outdated screenshots

The screenshots are now very outdated, the graphics have been greatly improved for version 0.9.

Feel free to upload new ones :)
